After the death of Henry Evers, the Evers farm was inherited by Louise Evers C. Boeger family in 1898. Part of this farmland was reserved for cemetery use and became the site of the Oak Ridge Cemetery on 12th Street (Roosevelt Road).
One of Henry Evers' daughters, Louise, married William C. Boeger from Hinsdale. Louise and William had six children, Louis Boeger the oldest. The family lived on the Wolf Road farm until about 1900 (on the northeast corner of Dickens Street and Wolf Road) and then built a large white frame home at 4401 Roosevelt Road, the present site of the Hillside Racquet Club. The home was originally built by the Evers family who were in-laws of the Boegers.
This photograph from 1895 of the Boeger home includes several members of the Boeger family. Left to right are Malinda Boeger; Arthur Boeger; Emil Boeger; William F. Boeger, hired man and William C. Boeger and Louis Boeger.
The picture was furnished by Lorraine Davison, great granddaughter of William C. Boeger.
Louis Boeger married Nellie Thiele. The two started farming part of the Boeger land in 1912. They had a daughter Louise (Millies). The farm was sold in September, 1925, at which time Louis and Nellie moved to their new brick home on Orchard Avenue.
Over the years there were many additions and alterations to the old Boeger home. A "wing" was added to the east behind the north side of the house. In the last few decades were up to five apartments in the expanded structure. The largest "wing" can be seen in the demolition photos taken from south of the house. The old house proper was leveled first exposing the interior of that "wing".
The week of October 25, 2006, the demolition of Boeger house was completed to provide parking for the Church immediately south of the house. By examining the following photographs of the demolition we can see some of the additions to the house over the last century. The other structures on the property except the garage were leveled at the same time.
